Wh★ Can I Be N★w? (2017–20??)

In late 2016 we talked about the lack of information from the usual Bowie sites concerning cassettes, in general we thought it was a shame to snub cassettes as they have played a very big part in creating the Bowie audio legacy. For many years it was the number one choice for many a penniless youngster! So in late October (2016) we decided to take the matter into our own hands and create a site for everybody, from the casual fan to the digital only downloader and the hard core collector of everything, with one main theme in mind: DAVID BOWIE ON TAPE.

We have spent many hours making this project possible, we really hope you enjoy it and find it useful. We will try our best to keep it updated and always relevant.

John Carroll & Leo Rodia

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our founder, Leo Rodia. None of this would exist without him. Leo passed on the 31st March 2023 following a long illness.

Leo’s drive to make Bowieontape a reality was phenomenal; the whole thing was thought, made and on line in under six months, my fingers bleed still at the thought of the speed he worked at to make it happen. His ideas and passion came from being a true David Bowie fan; he understood the music and what it meant to grow up as a David Bowie fan with David Bowie.

An excellent drummer, as anyone who heard his Hawaii 5-0 can attest; music producer; cyclist and all round great guy he got the best out of living life itself and it seems unfair that he is gone at such a young age. Elia Rodia you will be missed, may your journey be blessed.

Thank you for your guidance and your friendship, it was an honour to know you. Rest in peace my friend.
